How can I get sticker adhesive off my stainless steel sink?

My sink came with a sticker on the side which was extremely noticeable so we had to take it off, it's beyond me why they would put it there anyway it's ridiculous, anyway it has left a residue where the sticker was and we were unable to remove it and so we have basically left it for around a year and put a washing up bowl in the sink to hide it, now I would like to know how to get it off as I would like to take out the bowl. I have tried, baking soda, alcohol and nail varnish remover. Nothing is working... Any ideas? Thanks
