Windows Media Player Won't Open.?

I've not been able to use WMP for a while now, but need it to put music on my mp3 player. I've tried to reinstall it but it just says that I've got the most recent version. I'm running vista home basic (worst OS ever). Anyone have any clues as to whats making it crap out?
